Power Plough
Objective
The Power Plough is an essential exercise for learning how to steer the skis (drifted turns with active use of the front of the ski, turning the ski with a shorter radius than skis natural radius). By learning how to steer the skier will not need to rotate or swing their body over to the inside in order to create a turn.
Description
Drift down the fall line in the plough position. Focus on pushing one knee forward to an extent that it will begin to bend the front of the ski. Keep your knees the your plough so you remain on the inside edges of your skis.
Tip: To really get the feeling of the ski steering, you can also try to focus on keeping your thighs as parallel as possible, with your knees this far inside you will get a better edge angle for steering.
Variation / Progression
A nice progression from this (although much harder) is the Javelin Turn
Terrain
Gentle green or blue.
